Just got my first #meshtastic node ✨ Waiting on my case to 3D print at the library and for my battery to arrive later today. My stuff cost about $40 all in.
If you don't know what this is, it's essentially text-based communication using long range radios (the old 3G band). Decentralized, can be totally encrypted. Want to text your friends without someone reading? Want to stay in touch in emergencies? Want to build fallbacks in case the regular internet stops working like it should? It would be good to get some #digitalrepository folks to help organize a more robust #dataresecue campaign.
I think we need some more coordinated guidance and support from the digital library community. Last time I used the Internet Archive and now their services have been hit hard by a major cyber-attack.
We could also use some international #DataRescue help.
