Hey all! I'm your friendly neighbourhood admin!

This account is mainly managed by Chris Trottier,
@atomicpoet (⚛️), as well as ThatOneCalculator/Kainoa, the lead Calckey developer @kainoa (🐦)

If you have questions or concerns about this instance, send me a message.
PLEASE BOOST: I recently migrated from @atomicpoet to @[email protected], but unfortunately, I lost about 5,000 followers in the process. I knew that migrating would come with some risks, but I never anticipated losing so many amazing followers.

If you used to follow me but somehow got left behind, I would really appreciate it if you could spare a moment to re-follow me at

We may have to incur some downtime tomorrow, starting at 8 AM Pacific Time and ending within a few hours (hopefully less). Shifting some things around with the servers that run ScyllaDB, specifically, disk file system optimizations. This'll make things go from fast to suuuuuper fast!! #Firefish #FirefishSocial
WE ARE SO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The server will probably be slow for the next couple hours or so as it catches up on 2 days of missed federation
Firefish.social will be going down in 5 minutes to begin the upgrade to ScyllaDB
Preparations are DONE. The server will likely have to be down for 2-3 hours, so...

(for reference, I'm in PDT)

In the next 2 to 3 days, Firefish.social will be switching from PostgreSQL to ScyllaDB for storing notes (posts) and their related data. As you may know, the way timelines are built (as inherited from Misskey) is very slow and inefficient and buggy, and this problem has been exacerbated for a while on Firefish.social. This completely changes how notes are stored and how timelines are built, and in testing, these changes have been shown to be more efficient than the previous methods by an extremely significant factor. I'd like to extend my extreme gratitude to @namekuji for developing [this branch](https://git.joinfirefish.org/firefish/firefish/-/merge_requests/10563), as a team member on Firefish, they've done some frankly incredible work and deserve recognition for this feat and everything else they've done for Firefish. $[jelly ❤️] ~🐦

Fetching this specific post was bugged when refederating, but I want to extend my thanks to @victor and their mod team for owning up to their mistake, apologizing, and overall handling the situation in a very mature way. ❤️
