I’m still looking for full-time employment. I’ve landed some wonderful new clients since beginning my job search, but have yet to find a solid full-time role #FediHire

📝 Was my IAAP certification worth it?

Probably not, for many reasons.

Front End North Conference | 10th July 2025

A welcoming one-track, one-day conference in Sheffield, UK for developers and designers who work on the web.

Front End North
Like what the hell is this?

A few other issues I've found:
- Shop filters throwing JS errors all over the place
- `role="menuitem"` used not only inappropriately but completely wrong
- Horizontal overflow in several places
- A crazy complex calculation for img 'sizes' attribute... that always resolves to `(min-width: 750px) 100vw, 100vw`
- A separate JS file for everything under the sun, loaded whether it's needed or not
- View transitions that result in squished images on navigation to product pages.

Just a sample for ya

There's probably a blog post in this, I was thinking of doing one for the work blog but I'm not sure they'd publish the language I want to write it in lol.

The latest 'official' Shopify theme (Horizon) is an absolute car crash.

I've encountered like 20 major and obvious bugs I've had to patch, and the code also looks a bit half-finished.

And the accessibility, Jesus the accessibility... yeah just an intentionally empty link here positioned absolutely on top of content.
Pretty fucking appalling in the year of our lord EAA one of the biggest ecomm companies can just get away with this mess.

I hate footnotes, especially on the web, and hopefully by the end of this, you will too.
