I donât know why this comes to mind. Just another missed opportunity I guess. Couldâve been awesome and life-changing for a lot of struggling musicians, but they couldnât get out of their own heads, couldnât escape the mental bubble where theyâre the greatest artists in the world. I wonder if theyâre still there
Music scenes are so vital but they can be so fragile. I played in a Columbus punk band in the late 90s and an Atlanta post-rock folk-goth (!) band in the early 00s. both times we were surrounded by similar bands, but they refused to get together. So many nights where the only audience was the other bands on the bill- weâd cheer them on and applaud, but I swear every band acted like they were already filling arenas. Theyâd treat us and each other like blank adoring fans. Theyâd never stick around after they played, and they always sounded pissed off.
