@MLE_online @steter @ai6yr Right now, the only state that allows balcony solar is Utah, but there is legislation moving in multiple states to make it legal. California has a bill in process right now. https://www.ewg.org/news-insights/news-release/2026/01/california-senator-introduces-balcony-solar-bill-lower-energy
@MLE_online @steter @ai6yr Ahh. Yeah, it’ll be difficult to find a setup that will run something directly off of panels without another intermediate source. You’ll either need something like balcony solar (not legal in most places… yet) or a portable battery or something.
@MLE_online @steter @ai6yr The C1000 is often less than $400 on sale, and the larger capacity models are all well less than $1k. The key is if you don’t need portable solar panels, buy a couple of surplus/used panels locally for cheap. You can often get a ~350watt/35v panel for $50.
@MLE_online @steter @ai6yr Check out the Anker Solix units. They work with cheap rooftop panels, output around 2kw, and have between 1-3kwh of capacity, depending on the model. I have the C1000 and it easily runs a toaster oven, kettle, or clothes washer. It’ll run a modern refrigerator for over 6 hours easy.
@bourgwick @livetapes Apologies if you already have this one as well. Looks like he has a massive archive he’s working through: https://youtube.com/@stevesbasementarchives-sn7qj

@ai6yr Oh no lol. Yeah, not great.
@ai6yr Pretty sure they’re talking about Dr. Swain, but they shouldn’t lead with “blogger..”
@pmonks @ai6yr There are multiple threads showing stalled Waymo vehicles causing varying amounts of disruption.
