@MeidasTouch A federal sales tax at that rate would only be affordable if all state and local sales taxes were repealed. Flat rate consumption taxes are very regressive. These GOP legislators are not being realistic. Or maybe that's the point? Even with a sales tax the government would still need an IRS to collect it and enforce compliance, so not even meeting one of the GOPs goals to shut down the IRS.
@rbreich And Trump wanted to be there at the Capitol with the protesters. What was he thinking? Knock politely on the front door?
