@inventingreality.bsky.social If it comes from a free email (gmail, outlook, yahoo, etc) is is very likely not from a legitimate company.
If they have a domain (which is 10-50/year), they can send using that name, even if they don't make a website. I would never respond to a request without it.
@va2lam @dyckron It's hard because it would require a politician to willingly go for giving up power, with no real way to get it back without a huge amount of work
@johnefrancis @keithzg @dyckron Yes, I think that too. Although that creates an imbalance between poor/rural ridings and rich/urban ones.
Urban ones are much smaller, so don't take as much effort to get word out and with less space, less signage is needed.
What needs to be controlled is corporate involvement. No need to ban it: just make it that if they gave any money, they cannot access government funding or tax breaks during that cycle.
@va2lam @dyckron Do what the territories do... after the election, they elect the leader of those sitting.
@keithzg @dyckron @johnefrancis I'd also say that during an election campaign, min 50% of their campaign time must be in their riding.
Harper was mine at one point, and he ignored his own riding.
@dyckron I think a politician should be required to be residing within their riding for the year before running (exceptions for when the ridings change boundaries, then have to not moved into the new boundary in the year).
This would prevent what he did... lost his riding, and went shopping for another immediately to take over.
@cthulku I am sure if the answer is to leave... she'll respect it. If it's to stay, she will invoke the "not binding" and still work to leave.
@benroyce If my name was missed, I'd be demanding the money paid for the graduation event back, as they failed to provide a key part of the service to me (my recognition). I would word the demand as a consequence of their failure to make sure the product was correct.
People think computers cannot make mistakes. Computers make mistakes all the time; that is why there is error correction in almost everything. BUT they are only as good as the data going in, and AI is extremely flawed data.
@inventingreality.bsky.social I have yet so ever hear of a legitimate marketing company reach out to a self-published author to market them! Marketing companies don't go after small people, they go after large ones!
@inventingreality.bsky.social If a bookclub said they wanted to be able to ask me questions as they read the book, I would be quite happy to do that... Or even do a video chat at a meeting.
The fact I got messages, but they didn't talk about the book much... or describe a specific scene, just stuff which could be inferred by the description always felt like a scam to me, even before I discussed it with others. Then they wanted to be paid... no, the payment would be the other way!
