@davidallengreen because they use contract law to bind gods and provide power for human cities. It's an interesting alternative, using law in place of magic (or "lore", I suppose) in a fantasy setting. Huge legal firms in traditional glass and steel offices, headed by undead skeletons. A fine mashup of genres.
