I don't care if Pride is sexual or not, I just wish we could talk about how few options there are for nonsexual queer spaces without being lumped into the same category as homophobes shouting about "the children." Last year an anti-fascist died. Her parents let nobody see her in her final hours. They held no funeral for her, but they did for somebody else. Because they cut her hair, and they dressed her like a man, and they put a name on her obituary that died a long time ago. Her social media accounts couldn't be memorialized because the account names so not match the obituary. Today, Facebook has taken them all down. There is no record that she ever existed. Two days after unveiling a bunch of pride backgrounds and talking their big ally talk, they took down the last monument to a dead trans woman, all of her words and pictures and videos. She was loved by many and now she lives only in our memory. Her name was RACHEL, say her name.
