It's patties all the way down
@eniko curious if you ever saw masahiro sakurai's YouTube channel where he basically converted his decades longs op Ed column about game dev into videos. A lot of stuff about project management and time lines, zero about "do this genre" lol
@3psboyd I need an outlet for this thought and I hope you don't mind catching this particular stray. The North Wind Avatar let's you put a card you own from outside your deck into your hand. At your end step, Wondrous Crucible randomly copies a card in your graveyard and states that you may cast it without paying its cost. Therefore, the avatar can put the 3 of clubs into your hand, and a discard outlet will get it where the crucible can copy it onto the stack. Thank you for coming to my TED ta-
@djl @stevegis_ssg @futurebird I guess I object even to the use of the word "logical function" on a subcellular level - in the sense of "one input, one output", biochemical systems are so squishy and wet that the best you can do is "one input, more of one output than the others most of the time". Maybe it's a distinction without a difference depending on what scale you're looking at.
@djl @stevegis_ssg @futurebird I agree that transistors arranged into boolean logic gates is unlikely to be an analogous structure to most neural structures, but I am skeptical that ion channels in axons are. Most of them are voltage gated and open in sequence to propagate an action potential down a membrane. Ligand gated ones near the cell bodies would make more sense to me, but stuff like antidromic conduction existing at all makes me skeptical that axons can compute anything like a CPU.
@dantheclamman @shom you might be interested to know that the human utricle and saccule are organs that use otoliths to detect gravity and linear acceleration. The mechanoreceptive hair cells in the semicircular canals, the utricles, and the saccules are homologous to those in fish ears and lateral lines, if I understand correctly, but I've never been able to find data on whether that's true of mollusk statocysts.
@foone I have a friend who requires all job applicants to his engineering department reformat their resumes to a weird string data type to upload for review because of you can't get arbitrary data into the correct format what is he supposed to do with you?
@robinhouston because of the constraint that it always be 2 blocks wide, would each previous N's solution give you the building blocks available for the next N's solution? I haven't tried to actually prove it but that is the first possible source of fibonacci-ness that comes to my mind
@futurebird @aredridel it's both. Immune development is a contingent process that involves genes you're born with, random modification of those genes to generate cells which produce a variety of immunoglobulins, and then selection of those cells based on a balance of self-reactivity and environmental reactivity to determine what exactly makes the adaptive immune system you face the world with. Lots of places it can go wrong, or at least inconvenient.
@zkat they go aaaaall the way

@eniko can some of the townspeople be theys

like golems own the laundromat or something
