@stux hadn't noticed any lag, you're doing great.

If you're looking for the perfect (albeit late-arriving) Christmas gift for the history- and/or politics-minded individual in your life, or simply for yourself, I cannot recommend this collection of essays highly enough. Features several essays from well-known and -respected historians, including @KevinMKruse.

Here's the technical details from CBS that they used to confirm that "the data is real" (whatever that means):

There's a lot of data.
The timestamps on the files are not all the same.

That's some impressive forensic analysis there folks.

But almost half the segment wasn't about the analysis, it was promoting right-wing Hunter conspiracy theories.

CBS has gone full Fox News here.

Please boost this. If you deactivate/delete your Tw*tter account, your @ handle will be publicly available in 30 days. The chances that you will be impersonated with no recourse is very high! Don’t do it - especially if you had a fairly popular account. To wipe things, deactivate your account, then go to bird site /login and reactivate it. All of your followers will be gone. Now lock the account and let it rot. @semiphemeral is a great tool for wiping data, including DMs. #twittermigration

Social networks need critical mass to sustain themselves.

Part of that is making sure this site has that critical mass by encouraging folks to come here.

Part of that is making sure bird site isn't a place where you provide free content anymore.

There's a good chance when you joined here, you cared more about the first of those as a hedge against bird site dying.

But if recent changes mean you want birdsite to affirmatively die, you'll need to do both.

I don't want to just be posting about numbers like a clock, but the 2 million mark of monthly active users across the network is a pretty big deal. This is going big numbers! Shout out to all the server operators who are absorbing this wave.
