Seriously, when I see petty queer infighting my mind inevitably drifts back to Larry Kramer shouting "we are in the middle of a fucking plague". In one tab I have details about a protest that a local trans org plans to hold outside a medical centre that is refusing to give its trans patients healthcare, a protest I plan to attend. On the other, I see squabbling over the exact technical meaning of "transmisogyny exempt".

Until we get our acts together, all of us, we are as good as dead.

I don't wanna imply that trying to find better language to describe shit is useless, I think we should try to use language that more effective communicates our ideas and is less likely to do lateral harm. But as terms to fight over go, "tma" and "tme" feel like kind of small fry. Like yeah they're not the perfect but are people actually confused about what the use of these terms tries to communicate? Or are people just doing dumb Internet slapfights to get the blood pumping?

The lexology of the marginalised is generally messy amd chaotic, imperfect words grasped at in some context to try to communicate an idea for which we do not have a word, and then outgrowing that context. You can have terminology that breaks down a bit when you stretch it, you can have terminology that is so vague and broad as to be meaningless, you can have terminology that is both, but terminology that is neither is real fucking rare.

Apparently we're doing dumb internet slapfights about the language being used to talk about transphobia, transmisoginy in specific, and in particular if some people are "exempt" from transmisoginy.

Oh my god what the fuck is wrong with all of you? We are all staring down the barrel of a fucking genocide and *this* is what you're doing? Sure the ongoing effort yo kill us all is bad, but the real issue here is the multiply marginalised traumaqueer using the word I don't like

Honestly it's kind of unreasonable how any compliments on my personality instantly melt me. Like if someone tells me I look hot or pretty, yeah I feel good, but if they tell me that I'm funny or kind or make them feel safe then my speech gets replaced with vocal stims for a lil bit
