-If your tent is small like ours (I camp in a hammock), we put the kids in the tent together since children have less fat reserves than adults to burn for warmth. Having them in a small contained space inside the central room of the house surrounded by adults and body heat helps them stay toasty.

-Adding an extra layer of clothes 15 minutes before bed will Warm your body and trap heat in your sleeping area

For family members 2+ years old

-In the family hotpocket, stuff empty spaces with fleece blankets. Concentrate on the areas around your mid section and your feet for maximum warmth.

-Wear head coverings like hats.

-If you can fit your family hotpocket in a tent inside the most interior room in your home, do that

-Zip infants into those cute snow suits that make them look like starfish

-Make sure they aren't in danger of suffocating by placing them in their own space nearby

-playpens work or even move their crib into the central room.

-Make sure they don't get too hot

Gather your camping gear-

-If you have camping gear (sleeping bags, even tents) bring them inside from the garage or out of the attic before the power goes out

-Hit the camping aisle at the store for comfort items like hot hands and feet warmers

-If you lose power, make a giant hotpocket/pita out of your sleeping bags zipped together and pack your family in (not babies, see below)

Tips to get through-

-Stock up on cold edible foods w/dense nutrients like good lunch meat, cheese and whole wheat bread

-Pre-Cook chicken and shred for chicken salad sandwiches

-Pre-Boil eggs

-Mixing ranch with boiled eggs or shredded chicken is an easy way to make chicken/egg salad sandwiches in a pinch. I know y'all have ranch.
