There's nothing quite like receiving a contributor's copy...
Needless to say, I'm delighted to see my name on the cover. "Sleepless" is my 64th published short story. Big thanks go to editors Gene Rowe and Rick Danforth for selecting it for publication.
I'm absolutely delighted to have had my SF short story "Sleepless" accepted for publication in Fission #6. My first time there -- and my 64th story to find a home.

I’m delighted to announce that my short story Missing Meriel has been published in the first issue of The Fifth Corner. It is free to read online.
The editor of The Fifth Corner has arranged the six stories featured in Issue No. 1 so that “each story alters the one that follows it”. So please read them in order. (https://thefifthcorner.ca/issue-no-1/)
Lyndon Polan’s graphite artwork for the whole issue is beautiful.
Seeing this will never get old.
This is the most important book my name will ever appear in, along with the names of almost 10,000 other writers. https://www.dontstealthisbook.com/

It's time for my (writing) year's summation. https://vaughanstanger.com/2025-news/
TL;DR: A fairly quiet year with a couple of highlights ("Wheat Futures" published in The Growers anthology; a French language reprint of "Those We Leave Behind", which revealed an unexpected connection to a real Soviet cosmonaut.

2025 News | Vaughan Stanger – Science Fiction Writer

I have some small but perfectly formed news in the run-up to Christmas:
- My space-themed poems, "Gravity Game" and "Venera 9" (originally published by Sourav Sarkar in his series of themed anthologies), will be reprinted in the BSFA's Focus magazine.
- My flash-length ghost story "Laying the Table" will be reprinted in the Milford SF Writers' blog on 23 December. (This first appeared in Flash in a Flash 124.)
I'm delighted to announce that I've received an acceptance from 50 Give or Take (Vine Leaves Press) for my fantasy nano-fic "Hat Trick". It will be published in no. 1926 (Feb-26).
