A call to anarchists doing sex-work.
Via Projet Evasions:
"For our next publication, we’d like to give a voice to anarchists who practice sex-work. We’d love to include your stories and reflections.
Within the network of anarchist friendships that is the projet-evasions, there are several of us who earn money through sex-work. We have the impression that if this is how we earn the money we need to survive within capitalism, it’s not completely by chance, but that it’s linked to our anarchist affinities.
It’s this quesiton that we’re looking to explore in our next publication, and we’d love to include your stories and reflections on the links you see between your choice to practice sex-work and your anarchist thoughts.
Send us your reflections, anecdotes, testimonials and a few words about the context you’re writing from.
It can be short or long, written or drawn, signed or anonymous. You can write in English, German or French.
Send us your texts by 28.2.2024 to evasions@riseup.net. We look forward to reading from you.
With rage and love"

Signal Fails
"I embarked on this project to reflect and gather feedback on the impact Signal has had on anarchist networks in the U.S. and Canada, from the standpoint of both security and social organization. In doing so, I think I hit on some common frustrations people have, especially with large Signal groups, and gathered together a few proposals to circulate. I continue to insist that smartphones are doing more damage than good to our lives and struggles, because it’s important to me. We need to preserve and build other ways of organizing ourselves, especially offline, for both quality-of-life and movement security. Even if we stick with smartphones, it’s dangerous when our communications are centralized. If Signal’s servers went down tonight, or Riseup.net, or Protonmail, imagine how devastating that would be to our networks. If anarchists ever pose a major threat to the established order, they will come for us and our infrastructure without mercy, including suspending ‘legal protections’ we might be depending on. For better and for worse, I believe this scenario to be possible in our lifetime, and so we should plan for resilience."
The Responsibility of Criminals
"Is this an inflammatory title? Kind of. Kind of not. This is not a blanket statement, not by a long shot. So in what context is this meant? Firstly, Political criminals, specifically if they’ve been caught, specifically if they are anarchists.
Secondly, there will be no answers here. There will be questions posed and pondered, things suggested and condemned – but none of these are answers. This is to encourage thought on the issue and hopefully illuminate a needed conversation. I have opinions and surely my opinions will reflect here, figure out yours. Finally, everything is hypothetical. Always."

Government must stop restricting website access with laws requiring age verification. Some advocates of these censorship schemes argue we can nerd our way out of the many harms they cause to speech, equity, privacy, and infosec. Their silver bullet? “Age estimation” technology that scans our faces,...
The Trans Woman Who Sued the Federal Prisons (and Won) Settles Her Remaining Cases
"Attorneys for the federal prison system agreed last week to pay $95,000 to a transgender woman who had alleged in dozens of lawsuits that she had been abused and mistreated in its custody by both fellow prisoners and staff. The agreement to settle the suits was signed just days before the inauguration of President Donald Trump, who had campaigned on a promise to end federal accommodations and support for trans people."

In a landmark ruling, a federal district court held that backdoor searches of databases full of Americans’ private communications collected under Section 702 ordinarily require a warrant. Congress should uphold its responsibility to protect civil rights and civil liberties by refusing to renew Section 702 absent a number of necessary reforms.
