@gleick Yeah, special shout out to Pompeo too, for suggesting in his book that Kashoggi got what was coming to him for committing the sin of journalism.
@pbump That seems broadly correct in that if one wanted to bribe the President, one would have to wait in line behind a very large number of other people, many of whom have significantly larger bribes, whose bribes he is planning on accepting first, and I mean the dude only has so much time to take bribes, he has to watch TV too.
@molly0xfff @cryptadamist people talk a lot of smack about AI but honestly if you can make a Corgi look menacing and evil like that, props I guess.
@atlas Wait, it is not near the Gorey house in massachusetts? That's amazing!
@mattblaze No dude I am pretty sure it has been about a hundred years.
@jeffjarvis I love Robertson Davies, and will read Douthat later today, but this argument doesn't seem to describe Canada _today_ (which ain't so affine to the US either) -- the last couple times I have been in Toronto or Montreal I am stunned at how multiculti they have become and how outward looking -- in that way very un-Davies -- young people are. They feel like a county looking forward, which the US has chosen not to be, and full of new energy. It ain't the Canada I grew up near.
@JenLucPiquant I am not at all a superhero movie guy but am tremendously excited by (1) the dog and (2) "Peter the Great" as the villain
@molly0xfff Nothin' but the King here either
@gregggonsalves Even when Adams has been wrong or less full-throated than he should be, he has seemed all along to be genuinely motivated by public health and well-being -- while, granted, concerned with political constraints -- as opposed to having a grossly inflated sense of his scientific credentials and a grifter's heart. One could do much much much worse.
