My name's Tim Clare. I'm an author (novels & nonfiction), podcaster (Death Of 1000 Cuts) & journalist. I love tabletop games of all kinds & I'm working on a book about them.

@gpage as long as it's not too much bother, that might help me, thank you
@gpage I mean I've taught in literally over a hundred schools but I seem to find games really rough. I don't have a plan though
@gpage teaching
I have to learn & teach at least 1 new game a week, for work, so I can't avoid it. Recently in particular, I've come to absolutely hate it. My throat wants to close up. I've done stand up & hundreds of live performances, so I don't know why this makes me so stressed.

Last night I had to teach a complicated boardgame I'd never played to a group, not all of whom I knew well, while setting it up for the first time, in a public space. In all, it took an hour, I felt incredibly anxious the whole time, I got some rules wrong & I spent the rest of the game so anxious I found it hard to speak or concentrate.

Is it possible to get over the stress & anxiety of teaching games? I'm autistic so there are additional challenges for me.

@emmanewman I'm sorry it's feeling so stressful. Congratulations on what is a really big achievement & has obviously required a lot of courage on your part as well as all the craft & effort.
Hey pals. Anyone going to be at #Airecon next week? Let me know if you'd like to say hi (& maybe get in a game)
Can anyone recommend good folks for me to follow on here? My personal TL is a bit sparse & dominated by a couple of very heavy posters. I like books, tabletop games & tbh that is probably it. Oh, I guess writing, & interesting history. Any suggestions? (that aren't self-promo!)
I'm extraordinarily excited to get this to the table - ROLLING HEIGHTS, a game about city building where you throw meeples like dice. It looks super neat, I like meeples, I love city building themes &, well. I hope it's as fun as it looks.

What are your favourite civilisation-style tabletop games? I have THROUGH THE AGES & I do like it, though it's a bit mean & I'd love something with an actual map. I played MOSAIC at the weekend & enjoyed it well enough, though maybe I'd love something with more in-depth tech progression. I found TAPESTRY a bit too abstracted for my liking.

Any thoughts? SF/space/Fantasy equivalents totally acceptable.
