"“The lesson of 1933 is: you get out sooner rather than later... My colleagues and friends, they were walking around and saying, ‘We have checks and balances...’ I thought, my God, we’re like people on the Titanic saying, ‘Our ship can’t sink. We’ve got the best ship...’ And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can’t sink.”"

I have these two sentences stuck in my head these days:

A French minister: we need to prepare ourselves for a future when temperatures are 4°C higher.

A climate scientist: with a rise of 4°C above pre-industrial age, up to 90% of the world's population may die.

(edit: muting the post, it's going way beyond its intended audience, I'd like to be able to see notifications about other things. thanks you all for sharing)

Denmark’s Ministry of Digital Government is phasing out its use of Microsoft Office.. to switch to open source alternatives like LibreOffice instead.

Why? Because relying too heavily on a US tech giant for your nation’s digital infrastructure is starting to feel a bit... well, risky.

Denmark's relationship with the US is under strain, following Donald Trump's clearly stated ambition to seize control of Greenland, and recent reports of increased spying by the States on Greenland and Denmark.

There’s a TON of evidence that bigger, higher vehicles are far more likely to kill somone they hit, crushing vital organs & pushing victims under. But never forget, their weight, height & sightlines also make it far more likely that they’ll hit someone in the first place. HT @transenv.bsky.social

This is the 100 year anniversary of humans having an idea of what the heck the sun and all the stars actually are. If you had asked a leading astronomer in 1925 what the sun was, they would say that it's basically the same as Earth, but very hot.

In Cecilia Payne's doctoral thesis she was the first to say, from spectral data, that the sun was overwhelmingly made of hydrogen and helium.

It was later described as "the most brilliant PhD thesis ever written in astronomy".

małopolskie-Kraków-m. Kraków-95 (*)
śląskie-Bielsko-Biała-m. Bielsko-Biała-61
śląskie-Bielsko-Biała-m. Bielsko-Biała-30
opolskie-oleski-gm. Olesno-3 (*)
mazowieckie-miński-m. Mińsk Mazowiecki-13 (*)
pomorskie-Gdańsk-m. Gdańsk-17
śląskie-Tychy-m. Tychy-35 (*)
opolskie-strzelecki-gm. Strzelce Opolskie-9 (*)
podkarpackie-Rzeszów-m. Rzeszów-46
śląskie-Żory-m. Żory-13
