“But wait,” the press cries, “no Republicans are actually calling for Trump to drop out!” Well not •publicly•, duh. But are you sure nobody’s wishing it in •private•? Really? I mean, come on.
Basically nobody in the establishment was publicly calling for Biden to drop out either, at least not when the press went after the idea like a kitten chasing a laser pointer. Good news: that doesn’t need to stop you! You can endlessly •speculate• about it until somebody does come out of the woodwork!
I live my life pretty simple, all things considered.
I write things about a subject I'm incredibly passionate about: coffee.
I try to be a good neighbour, through interaction, communication, and volunteer efforts.
I frequently chat with friends and family, both close by and 1000s of kms away
I try to be a good advocate for consumers looking to have a great coffee and espresso experience.
And I really work hard to avoid doing things that can result in 34 felony convictions. Like, every day.
A planet, if we can keep it.
It is notable that Daniel Dennet had just passed…and #Earthday 2024 is upon us.
Among the tenets of Dennet’s work is the concept that we, as humans, are driven by deep evolutionary mechanisms that we share with all living beings…that our consciousness, though uniquely human, is driven by these basic neurological functions.
And yet, to save this planet from our own destruction, we must elevate our way of thinking to the survival of the species and not simply the survival of ourselves.
We have been given the most precious gift the universe can offer…and with that gift comes responsibility.
As someone who covers manufactured outrage campaigns for a living, journalists desperately need to learn how to properly cover these campaigns.
These grafs in NYT don’t give nearly enough context to who Chris Rufo is, or his agenda/track record. Quoting ppl like Rufo as neutral/honest actors is a huge mistake not only bc it launders their abusive, ideologically driven campaigns to mainstream liberals, but also bc it leaves readers less informed abt the motivations behind these attacks.
