Disagree. Maybe I just like the games too much for any adaptation but a perfect one to be what I’m looking for, but they lost all that made the game good.
Joel’s moral grayness was the crux of his character. But in the show they made sure you knew he was a good guy just a little heartbroken. He was volunteering around the QZ instead of bribing his way out of it like in the games. They totally did Tess dirty with her death scene. What the fuck was that? They don’t have that moment of Joel finally trusting Ellie enough to give her a gun, she steals one and is strangely fixated on violence. And the one group they were fine displaying that moral grayness? The fucking HUNTERS. That whole episode where they’re trapped in Pittsburgh, the hunters’ morals are given depth and their crusade to hunt down the brothers are rooted in something we could all relate to…when these people are killing and stripping innocent people of their lives for the possibility of supplies.
They didn’t trust the audience. They didn’t pull off the adaptation.
Adorable, but I see you’ve raised the stakes
Tortie-off!
lol you think he US doesn’t have an intellectual class? Just one big country of dummos, huh? The portrayal of the US and the shape of our leadership definitely makes it seem that way but there are a massive number of intellectuals in the US. The current admin is trying to drive them out (or at least inadvertently doing so), but they are certainly a reality. Funnily enough, a huge number of them are first or second gen immigrants because the intellectually inclined would come here for the school and the opportunities.
Don’t conflate the caricature with the character.
