... Yes minister is an old satirical comedy show based in Britain that encapsulates what executive class of our democracy thrives on.

It is important that we take a look at the incentive structure that they work in and make changes neccessary that even the most ill-motived person cannot by design cause harm.

There are people of highest calibre working and serving but they are outnumbered by careerist. It is not wrong in my mind to be careerist, but being one shouldn't harm people...

.. we have this inherent bias that all politicians are gaming for their benefit. But why not take the same bias to the executives. The same ones you applaud when they get selected to be the executive class of our nation. We forget that these are the brightest minds serving the nation.

When comfronting the government, we overlook the largest stable class present with an intitutional knowledge that no politician can gain...

People are frustrated and vindicated in every manner possible. The high handedness that is at display is troubling by the authority.

We have problem with politicians but not the executive class. Yet its the executive class that puts the words together, drafts the order and executes the order. We are treating them an cogs of the machine and not as humans.

Preach to their humanity, ask them to raise up for the greater cause.

Or else change the incentives at play..

@nitin Hey,

So, I have recently picked up my interest in understanding about China.

A new book lays out the Chinese leader’s stark worldview.

Looking at what is happening in #MaharashtraPolitics , i see MLA'S being paraded like cattle. They don't represent any part of us. Because they are not answerable to us anymore. These are people who hold siginificant power in our democracy but look so powerless.

So, I think you should become an MLA if you wants stickers on your car and have a siren without the light. Other than that you are of now use to this country.

Since this regime is in power, we have instilled too much faith on legal discourse unlike other governments. Instead,of mass mobilising communities to get the opinions heard we wait for court to sort it out.

Which brings me to question the entire pretence of the holding elected representatives accountable. People are voting for a symbol, idol or ideology but not for their representatives.

Also, how government is undermining the neutrality of the executive wing and hides the data that is against the narrative they want to propagate

Leak of India’s buried jobs data led to inquiry, panel examined officials’ laptops and pen drives

The government believed its credibility was hurt by the leaks of the data, and not its refusal to publish approved reports.

You also have the entire series by @nit_set on electoral bonds that shows the lack of upholding by other institutions of government resulting in crumbling of democracy through legislative action.

EXCLUSIVE: Electoral Bonds: Seeking Secretive Funds, Modi Govt Overruled RBI

Former finance minister Arun Jaitley took just hours to dismiss the RBI's warning that electoral bonds could funnel black money into politics and destabilise the Indian currency, documents show.

And if you need a place to start here is a columns that puts it very well as to what we are facing at the moment.

Corrupting Everybody?

It was a twist worthy of cinema. There is a genre of films in which everybody double-crosses everybody else, until finally there is only one winner left standing. As things stand today, in Maharashtra, that...
