I posted a comment earlier on a thread about making cake so I figured I better follow up; I found a bread maker machine pound cake recipe. Quarter pound of butter, two eggs, 2 cups of flour, one cup of sugar, baking powder, vanilla extract, dump it all in, back after 10 minutes to remove the palette, and you're done. Great taste, perfectly cromulent cake, minimal effort.
And then I got overly ambitious and did the icing, even though I had no hand mixer. That, I will not do again, too much work and it mostly makes me feel guilty about eating my cake, because holy cow that is so much butter and sugar.
But hey, it *does* turn out you can just bake cake and no one will stop you! What a world!
