The Fibonacci sequence tends to grow at the Golden ratio (approx 1.618) while the actual conversion is ~1.609 so it does usually work well.

In fact any Fibonacci-like sequence with different starting numbers eventually will work, after it gets past the initial crop of bad conversations, as such sequences have growth rates than tend toward the golden ratio as they grow long enough.

For example starting from 2, 9 instead of 1, 1:

2, 9, 11, 20, 31, 51, 82

20 mi ~= 32 km 31 mi ~= 50 km 51 mi ~= 82 km

This series is basically the reason I started reading books. Really great stories, favourite is definitely Mossflower.

Jacques also made an effort to write for the blind and visually impaired – not just in the sense of having accessible versions of the books available but also in their content. His writing involves a lot of emphasis on sounds and scents and taste, so someone blind from birth could still imagine themselves at a Redwall feast.

To give you an example this often happens in schools. The victim doesn’t even need to be on social media at all. They find out anyway when a significant portion of the school is in on some rumour or organized harassment against them.

Mostly seems to be group chats / discord servers these days rather than on public social media.

Arbitrary units. The graph’s creator is lampshading that the graph is totally made up in an amusing way.

It’s basically saying “made-up units” and “these units were made-up too.”

A proper haiku Must also follow these rul-- *shot for pedantry*

For anyone unfamiliar, it’s punning on math having its own definition of “countable”, meaning able to be put into a one-to-one correspondence with the natural numbers (positive integers).

The real numbers, as a set, are not countable in that context (Cantor’s diagonal argument is a famous and rather elegant proof), even though they are countable in the sense that grammar rules refer to.

Went with Linux Mint back in July, set up a dual boot in case I’d need Windows for anything. Figured something or other wouldn’t work through wine or some such. Never have booted back to Windows since.

I think the only issue I’ve had is that my 8BitDo controller won’t work via Bluetooth, but it works fine via USB. (Other Bluetooth devices have been fine, not that I have many.)

I haven’t looked into it myself but one option I’ve heard is buying (often refurb/second hand because I think they’re pricy) commercial displays such as businesses use (think fast food restaurant menus above the counter and the like).
