@astrosherie If you open another browser window on your laptop or phone and go to the site of the person directly or a site that has potentially interesting people e.g. mstdn.science and type /public after the address or /explore you will find your way though that server and can click on people etc....
@statsgeekclare You can also comb through servers by typing the "instance" address (e.g. yours is mastodon dot world) in your browser followed by "/"public or "/" explore. Or, hashtags but that hasn't been perfect. Or, look at followers of someone that has been here a while to find and copy over the address to your search box...

I am back to the future here on Mastodon - w/ a degree in Cognitive Science from #Hampshire College & an early stint as a tech writer back in the dark ages - this place reminds me of DECnet - a pre-curser to the internet, with servers about various hardware, programming languages, coffee, recipes, etc...amazing - full circle!
