@jeff On one hand, its goddamned rough. On another, growing up in the Deep South actually is what eventually lead me to leftism, and then anarchism.
Funnily enough, pre-WW2, the biggest hotbed of leftist and anarchist movements in the US were... the Deep South.
Then politicians convinced rural and blue color workers that "socialism" and "communism" were no-no words that made the Baby Jesus cry, and convinced ignorant folk that their enemies weren't the rich, the bankers, the Wall Street gamblers, the landlords and factory owners, but instead the brown neighbor living down the street that they have infinitely more in common with than any coastal elite.
