UCEA needs to stop spinning about the impact of the marking boycott and fix its national degree scandal.

UCU general secretary Jo Grady said: 'Over 5,000 students have already been told their degrees have been impacted, and we are still around a month away from most graduations', adding that UCEA also don't acknowledge the 'absurd criteria institutions have created to bypass their normal academic standards.'

For years we have been told that final year projects MUST be double-marked, and that exams scripts MUST be moderated, so that the mark can be considered to be "safe". Of course, this incurs more work, but it's in the regulations and is definitely a good thing! But apparently, that's no longer the case, a single marker is apparently sufficient, and moderation is not necessary. You can just change the regulations -- really???????!!! #UoN #UCU #UCUrising. #UniNottingham
Today we in the Department of Genetics #CambridgeUniversity should be celebrating the success and achievements of our final year Genetics (BA) and Systems Biology (MSci) students. It is with huge disappointment that the intransigence of UCEA and their failure to engage with @ucu means our students are in limbo - I'm angry๐Ÿคฌ

"If we lose the Lords vote on this Fatal Motion on Tuesday 13th June, then it allows Ministers, for the first time ever, to overturn a parliamentary vote against a new law.

It sets a precedent where a government can lose votes in Parliament, when trying to pass legislation, then simply have the same laws waved through as regulations."
