The entire EU is getting a single unified train ticketing system. Buy one ticket to travel through multiple countries riding trains from multiple operators.
Meanwhile, the only transit near my home in Ohio is a bus that runs four times per day on weekdays, can't legally have "bus stops", and only started accepting card payments last year.
