@0xabad1dea ETS was one of my first purchases when I inherited a Steam Deck recently, entirely from enjoying your posts about it. I couldn’t get past the disturbing choices for player character thumbnail, though. I need to go learn how to roll my own mods.
@0xabad1dea With the way Bluesky truncated this post, I was afraid you’d found the plastic strip someplace else entirely.

Also, I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but I'll say it again: Part of your job as a senior is to tell your juniors about your fuckups. The embarrassing cringe reckless and lazy bullshit that you did when you were new, and the various times you brought down Prod. We ALL did it sometime. And then tell them: the moment you realized you fucked up, I know, the impulse is to try and cover it up, but don't do it. Come to the seniors you trust, and they'll help you unfuck it, and fight management tooth and claw like mamma and pappa bears to defend you from any shitheads in management. Because that's what our seniors did to us.

So you're an American considering moving to another country. Okay, I can tell you some practical things about that.

1) You need more money than you think. Moving overseas is expensive and expats are easy to take advantage of, so often you will be paying above market rate. At least initially; eventually you know more of the local culture, and have local friends who help.

2) Get/renew your passport right now. If you have dual citizenship, make sure that passport is current too.

The Slow Decline of the Apple “Cult”

The headline may be a little provocative, but this article by Matt Birchler encapsulates a lot of the feelings I shared on the latest episode of Connected following Apple’s decisions regarding the Patreon iOS app. Part of this is that Apple is no longer the underdog, they’re the biggest fish in the sea. It’s simply

@arjache Poor spider. ;_;

@arjache Sorry, but also congrats!

(Also also, respect for being in a position to make a decisive move.)
