Scientists have discovered a trove of nearly 600 obsidian hand-axes that were crafted more than 1.2 million years ago in Ethiopia by an unknown group of hominins. This pushes the timeline of obsidian tool use back by 500,000 years.

Archaeologists Discover 1.2 Million-Year-Old 'Workshop' in Mind-Blowing Find

The discovery pushes the timeline of obsidian tool use back by an astonishing 500,000 years.

What it lacks is the ability to Quote Tweet, that is to add your own comments to what somebody may have said, which is often used in social mobilizing. It also doesn't have full text search. This was all done intentionally. But as a result, it's much harder to reach out of your networks to other people. I used Twitter to follow multiple social movements, as well as to learn about people in other countries. Mastodon isn't useful for any of that. And it doesn't want to be.
Another pre-sunset photograph from the #isleofskye The sky is in motion with sunbeams falling through the clouds. It is mostly blue. “The firmament appears blue to the human eye as the short waves of blue light are scattered more than the other colours in the spectrum, making the blue light more visible.” White light being composed of all the hues of course. After the New York Times exposed George Santos, an incoming House Republican, as a fabulist, he did something very curious: He revived the dissolved mystery company through which he had claimed to have earned between $3.5 million and $11 million. A big question is the source of Santos' millions. He had no assets & a $55K salary in 2020 but seven-figures in income in 2021/22. It all has to do with a mystery firm he has not fully explained. The second of two images I have included in the @DartmoorCollective Linear zine, taken on a winter afternoon bathed in golden light and haze.

The line in the foreground is the B3212 - the "main" road which bisects Dartmoor from east to west, a C18th turnpike route which in places follows the lines of far more ancient tracks.

Beyond, the hillsides bear the multiple scars of peat cutter's paths, mining trails and pony driftways.

A connected, multi-layered landscape.
