Former Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) endorsed changes to his own Dodd-Frank law in 2018 that freed mid-sized banks from undergoing stress tests. He sits on Signature Bank's board, which just collapsed.

I reached him via phone tonight and he declined to comment https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2018/05/24/a-lot-of-people-heard-what-barney-frank-said-about-the-new-banking-law-few-knew-he-works-for-a-bank/

A lot of people heard what Barney Frank said about the new banking law. Few knew he works for a bank.

Frank has played a key role in tamping down criticisms of the legislation.

When I use the term "Fox," I mean the commercial arm of a political movement that has taken control of the Republican Party.

The product is resentment news. By which I mean: Current ways to resent. New people to resent. "Here's something they call Critical Race Theory. You should resent it."

Success in a market like that makes for political power. That's the Fox I know. A kind of machine. 8/

Just a thought: How about we nix Presidents Day and make Election Day a national holiday instead?

There is big conservation news coming out of Scotland today.

The government has adopted new planning rules, known as National Planning Framework 4, which will ensure that *NO* development will be supported if it impacts ancient woodland & ancient & veteran trees across the country.

The new rules have come into force with immediate effect.

These habitats are irreplaceable, so it's a landmark step in the fight against climate & nature emergencies.
