That's the first snowfall we've had in a few years. Measured at 7 cm deep away from shelter.
Today's trip up Sutton Bank, North Yorkshire. As can be seen our country is "full up" and those two national grid lines "spoil the view". Actually, a beautiful vista over miles of arable and pasture land of the Vale of York. Thirsk is down there somewhere
This is Boston Station in Lincolnshire. It serves a port town of 45k in eastern England and tells you all you need to know about UK policy over the last 50 years. There's nothing modern here, just endless empty spaces where things have been stripped away and not replaced. The new government needs to start loving places like this even though it voted the other way. The rot needs to stop and quickly.
I'm very excited that my garden has produced a Common Spotted Orchid this year in addition to the more usual Bee Orchids. I love these beautiful, exquisite little plants. No mow May brings such wonderful rewards!
Our local wood is very reliable for bluebells and this year hasn't disappointed! I just managed to get a walk through before they start dying off.
We've joined the heat-pump revolution... The oil boiler needed replacing so seemed like a good time to dump our last direct fossil fuel consumption.
South West England is well known for its subtropical vegetation but the gardens at Overbecks take the breath away. It always rains when I come here but it never seems to matter. This really is beautiful.
Some more pictures of the River Dart. The last shows a glimpse of Greenway House, Agatha Christie's home, through the trees.
We enjoyed a very pleasant trip up the Dart today on this boat - Cardiff Castle, from Dartmouth to Totnes and back and saw some wildlife: seals, cormorants and more, and lots of temperate rainforest hugging the slopes in beautiful summer sunshine.
The sea is looking lovely though... Hope Cove.
