So. We've reached the point of US troops (National Guardsmen) firing (less-than-lethal rounds) on peaceful protestors. In what seems to be a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act.

Personal prediction: all this unnecessary force is being used as instigation. Any response short of complete submission will be used as justification to invoke the Insurrection Act, which will be declared as part of a speech during Trump's birthday parade celebration this coming week

Is there a national database of missing persons suspected or confirmed to have been abducted by ICE? It seems like something we as a society should be tracking, because they sure as hell won't keep accurate records.

In time, we will have to reckon with all those we've lost, those we failed to protect.

@researchfairy Oh my god I just got the joke.

Holy crap. Well done.

@taurus As someone who also struggles with this: hell ya, good job Internet Stranger!

@ZeirosLion No no, I mean the olllllld N64 game that used voice recognition to have you befriend and play with a wild Pikachu.

And its spiritual successor on Gamecube, Pokemon Channel, where you lived with and watched TV with a Pikachu. Very much slice of life, as I recall.

@ZeirosLion Did you ever play the old "Hey You, Pikachu!" series of games? That's the closest I can think of.
Tangent: I'm surprised there isn't a furry-owned-and-operated messenger or social media platform. You'd think with our collective IT and software engineering expertise we could and would just make our own space.

I know you're tired. It took years of misery and effort to get a sizeable chunk of furries off of Twitter. And I know I'm preaching to the choir here on Mastodon. But we have to take steps protect ourselves and our community in the face of rising authoritarianism.

Start having the conversation with your friends and social groups about moving to a new messenger. I'm looking at Signal as a secure option (yes, it has stickers!), but I'm open to suggestions from more knowledgeable folks.

Quite a lot of us reside in a country undergoing an authoritarian takeover. One increasingly interested in examining your social media for signs of dissent and disloyalty - primarily during border crossings, for now, but likely to expand. Having one of our queer fandom's main communication tools be owned by a far-right sympathizer is immensely dangerous.

Telegram has been drastically increasing its cooperation with authorities globally in turning over user data: https://www.404media.co/telegram-gave-authorities-data-on-more-than-20-000-users/

Telegram Gave Authorities Data on More than 20,000 Users

According to its newest transparency report, Telegram complied with more than 5,000 requests from authorities in the first three months of 2025.

Furries, we've gotta face it: Telegram is moving in a far-right direction. Integrating crypto bullshit and Musk's Grok AI platform (just announced yesterday at https://t.me/durov/422 ) are very strong signs that Telegram's politics are quickly shifting in a direction hostile to the furry fandom.

🔥 This summer, Telegram users will gain access to the best AI technology on the market. Elon Musk and I have agreed to a 1-year partnership to bring xAI’s chatbot Grok to our billion+ users and integrate it across all Telegram apps 🤝 💪 This also strengthens Telegram’s financial position: we will receive $300M in cash and equity from xAI, plus 50% of the revenue from xAI subscriptions sold via Telegram 💰 Telegram + Grok = ❤️📈🏆
