This is exactly why we have a calcite sphere

Comment on this post and I'll give you a three-card pull from my deck of found cards!

Every card in this deck was discovered by myself in a public space, was retrieved from a box of things that were supposedly mine (but the card was nevertheless unknown to me), or was gifted to me sans context and sans any accompanying deck.

No one remembers hideo kojima's castlevania

See the old kings, they had a formula they could apply to find out if they could win a siege of a castle. And, I imagine, they would need a special large abacus, with squeaky wooden wheels and war styling, to make this calculation, and a special math guy in a long robe
The siege calculator.

Today's #MothOfTheDay, despite its name, is actually a rather common and brightly coloured moth:

SCARCE SILVER LINES
bena bicolorana

Fond of oak

@hastingsmothman that must be one of the worstly named creatures. Like, what were they thinking? Even mockingly its makes no sense.
@morfil I think the idea is that the white-silver lines are 'scarcely visible'. Named way back in 18th Century so maybe looked a little different. But believe me, there are MANY more incongruent names than this one. This one does have a semblance of sense, even if tenuous. Some moth names are completely left-field.
@hastingsmothman Wow, that’s a beautiful little creature. I might be biased because it’s one of my favorite colors, though :)
