Our beautiful Cassie-cat
#CatsOfMastadonOh, and lost Friday to supporting a member of staff with a service user death and the resulting family conflicts. Now at 8 straight days working.
So the long weekend off didn't happen 😕 spent yesterday oncall from 06:30am and covering service user visits, then picked Hubster up from his whisky night at 01:30am this morning.
So tired I could cry 😔
So my "reward" for the terrible week I've had (starting with a disciplinary on Tuesday last week), is a step up to registered manager.
Whilst it's been really, really stressful, I've lost far too much sleep and half a stone in weight, I have enjoyed the challenge.
But for now it's an early night and counting down the hours to a long weekend off!
A nightmare few days. An urgent safeguarding was raised on Friday night, followed by another on Saturday an another last night. The investigations, planning, paperwork, meetings, and CQC notifications have cost me the whole weekend and an awful lot of sleep.
Glad to have pressed send on the last bit of this at 5:30 this evening 😳
Sitting upstairs & all I can hear is Cassie-cat shouting at the husband in the kitchen 😅
When she arrived just over 2yrs ago she was a tiny traumatised ball of fluff who slowly found her feet but stayed shy.
18mths ago we took on a rescue kitten & Cassie has blossomed, yet only started "talking" a few months ago, now she doesn't stop!! 🤣
This little horror has been poorly this week.
After throwing up for only the second time in her life, she refused to eat for a few days, became lethargic and lost 300g in weight (that's a lot when you don't quite hit 3kg to start with).
Yesterday we tried something different and she's thrown herself at food again (she's always been a dustbin on 3 legs) 😊 the amount she's putting away she'll soon regain that 300g!
The little furry barstewards like to worry you don't they? 😅
Cream cracked this week.
Been so short staffed this last month I've done 50% or more of my hours on the road, with one staff member signed off for two weeks today and one more having emergency surgery last night, it's not going to get better anytime soon 😔 still having difficulty recruiting, there's just not enough staff available these days
The difference between our 2 cats...
Cassie (middle aged, elegant floof) has all her treats out of a small dish or won't touch them.
Harlee (teenager, former stray with 3 legs) will fight for scraps & eats absolutely anything!
We know Cassie loves us, but she's skittish, attention is on her terms only, a special treat if bestowed.
Harlee slaps you round the face with love, following us everywhere & taking any chance to sit on you should you be stationary.
They're a source of never-ending joy 😊
Recently did a course on "medication reconciliation". After making some changes to meds for 1 of our service users family asked us to remove the "excess", with her consent of course. Some of this was out of date in 2006 & has been through 3 house moves 🤦♀️
Turns out she was collecting her prescription each month then picking which meds she thought she needed. Sadly some of these were for heart & blood pressure, not taking them correctly led to heart failure & vascular dementia.
