In the US, hospitals are confident enough to print ‘39.95’ on the bill for holding your newborn

They are so sure about their system they don't mind explicitly spelling out that they charge $40 for literally handing over the baby and waiting for a few minutes

Because they don't even consider that absurd anymore

I got news for you.. it’s ABSURD!

We all have different things that touch us. For some, it's stories on the printed page. For others, songs or spoken narratives. For yet others, photographs.

You may not know that the US government hired Dorothea Lange to photograph the "relocation effort."

She clearly saw the injustice and human tragedy that was unfolding, and documented it unflinchingly.

Her work was censored, and only in 2006 made broadly available.

@dkalintsev @notfunnyelle There’s so much awesome in this picture, but I’m completely fixated on the flying squirrel. I wanna known how tf did the flying squirrel 🐿️ chose to get involved here? What we’re they thinking in this moment? Is it “oh no, I must help my friend fight off the scary camera monster” or is it “Photo-bomb!!!” So many questions. So many!
