I totally forgot to post it here as well, https://rubygems.org/gems/turbo_material early alpha version of material web component implementation for Rails. That is the same approach that allowed me to migrate my.itu.edu from both AngularJS Material and Angular Material to Hotwire last year. Lots of things are missing including some component implementation and documentation, but it'll get there eventually as I am trying to build a showcase of my Rails skills using that library for UI.

How to autocomplete two-factor authentication codes with a single HTML attribute

Today’s tip comes courtesy of Tomek Sułkowski on Twitter. If you manage an app that supports two-factor authentication, either through an app or SMS, you can make it easy for users to autocomplete their unique code. The trick is a single HTML attribute: [autocomplete="one-time-code"]. <label for="two-factor-auth">Authentication Code</label> <input id="two-factor-auth" autocomplete="one-time-code"> Tomek setup a demo here. (I made a fork on CodePen in case his goes down or you want to fork and test yourself).

WkhtmlToPDF is dead. Long live WkhtmlToPDF

Let’s start from the obvious. If you using WickedPDF in 2023 it’s a little bit more problematic than just having issues with PDF generation from time to time. It means that you are building your PDF markups with tables, not using modern CSS abilities like flex and grids. It must be hard. But probably it’s because dealing with pdf was difficult last time you have to do it. But no matter what, time has come. You need to up your PDF game. wkhtmltopdf is deprecated. Let’s go over your options.

There's currently a wave of bots trying to vandalize #OpenStreetMap by replacing names (and russian langauge names) with anti-russian slogans. The #OSM DWG has blocked 5,000+ accounts already

😢 This is not the way people!

How about limit new accounts?

In case people haven’t noticed, there’s another wave of vandalism ongoing. I’m in the process of blocking the accounts that I can identify (currently ~4500, but may increase), and a number of other people have reverted obviously problematic changesets. The block messages, like this one, are deliberately non-accusatory, even though some of the accounts have been used for vandalism already.

Building Erlang applications the hard way
