No, they’re still here, Google/Bing just don’t prioritize the Old Web style websites that don’t have trackers and don’t have mobile friendly designs.

You can find these old style sites with Marginalia.

There’s also an explore section if you don’t know what to search for.

Marginalia Search is a small independent do-it-yourself search engine for surprising but content-rich websites that never ask you to accept cookies or subscribe to newsletters. The goal is to bring you the sort of grass fed, free range HTML your grandma used to write.

It’s a small web search engine so there is not a result for everything (as there was in the early Internet). The ‘Explore’ feature is probably more entertaining (stumble upon-esque) than using it as an actual search engine.

Attached to Martin’s body was a briefcase containing secret documents that had been fabricated by the British Security Service. The purpose was to make German intelligence (which was known to have operatives in Huelva) think he had been a courier delivering documents to a British general. The documents were crafted to deceive the Germans into thinking that the British were preparing to invade Greece and Sardinia, rather than Sicily.

[GUIDE] Framework 16 Hibernate (w/ swapfile) Setup on Fedora 40

There isn’t a single place for all the adjustments that are needed to get this to work so I am putting it all here in one place: 1. Create the btrfs subvolume sudo btrfs subvolume create /var/swap 2. Calculate the needed size of your swapfile Use swapon to get the size of your current zram swap. The size you need for the swapfile (to be safe) is: (ram_size - zram_size) + (zram_size * 2) Or equivalently: ram_size + zram_size 3. Create the swapfile sudo btrfs filesystem mkswapfile --size 40g...

FW 16 on Ubuntu LTS has worked flawlessly for me except the battery drain on sleep is really bad (20% per 24 hours). No crashes or freezes or resume from sleep failures as I’ve experienced on other laptops with no vendor support.
I agree AI is a godsend for non coders and amateur programmers who need a quick and dirty script. As a professional, the quality of code is oftentimes 💩 and I can write it myself in less time than it takes to describe it to an AI.
