What unites these folks is a mix of knee jerk opposition to education, federal spending and generalized misogyny. Every so-called "moderate" Republican stuck with straight up transphobia.
I'm glad this failed yesterday given all the transphobia Mary Miller inserted into it. But damned near every Republican still voted for it. Hating people just because they are open about their gender & sexuality is no basis for a political party.

I did not have the privilege to serve with Barney, but got to know him well as he was always generous with his time and wisdom, especially to those of us on the Financial Services Committee, carrying on the work he started. Our country is better for his service.

We should not have to depend on the courts to defend the American taxpayers and the Constitution against the President and his felonious friends. But as long as Mike Johnson and John Thune refuse to act, that will be the forum where this is resolved.
