Okay! I'm joining @journa.host!

Crowdsourcing my Mastodon presence:

Should I have my own personal instance? One for my business? Stay on mastodon.social? I'm having trouble working out the best slot for me here.

Sorry this doesn't make any fucking sense

Twitter is delaying the rollout of its $7.99/month verification check marks until after Tuesday's midterm elections. There were some internal fears that going ahead before the elections would sow discord. https://nyti.ms/3Uht9a4

Twitter Said to Delay Changes to Check Mark Badges Until After Midterms

Users and employees had raised concerns that Elon Musk’s plan to give check marks to those who paid a monthly fee could be misused to sow discord.

Uh oh, nerding out about Mastodon has me itching to go back to school.
Calling Trump’s theft of national security information ā€œthe documents investigationā€ feels a bit light handed. He’s being investigated for Espionage, it isn’t a little ā€œdocumentsā€ mishap.
If anything, the complex or buggy aspects of Mastodon show that it’s a bit of a sandbox and that’s super intriguing! We can build something new and cool and welcoming and useful!
Complaining about how ā€œcomplicatedā€ Mastodon is really shows how closed minded folks have become. It’s fun learning something new! If it takes you 10 minutes or 10 hours to figure it out, isn’t the learning process part of the excitement?
What an impossible situation for journalists who have spent years building Twitter as the main way to drive readership to their stories.
Any good #mastohost alternatives?
