Returning to Rogers…
I am really looking forward to the first half of May. That's when Elyse and I are making a two-week trip to Rogers, Arkansas, where my family lived from February 1985 to August 1992. Living in Rogers was a mixed bag, for sure. Neither parent had particularly wanted to move to Arkansas in the first place, but it was a good career move for Dad, with his getting a promotion into management, and that's where the new position was located.

Maybe this is overly cynical of me…
Watching the Trump administration go at things, both in the current term as well as in the previous term, there's one thing that I've noticed. That is that they're acting on all of the Republican Party's traditional talking points, and making very concrete moves on them. In the first term, they went after abortion, and managed to get a case…

Delivering a very unique bus…
From February 19-21, I made a trip down to Roanoke with a few people in order to deliver a bus to Commonwealth Coach & Trolley, a museum that focuses on transit history. This trip took a similar form to the trip in November where I brought former WMATA bus 6181 down to Roanoke, but included a full day in Roanoke this time around because the trip was planned to coincide with a vacation day that I had previously scheduled.

Finding closure on a complicated legacy…
Recently, I learned that my elementary school principal, Judith Carmical, had passed away at the age of 85. Upon learning the news from a friend's post on Facebook, I felt a similar feeling when learning about her passing as I did when my fifth grade teacher, Sharon Bradley, died in 2019, realizing that a person from my past who had caused many problems for me was gone, and it provided some level of closure and comfort knowing…

Don’t be like this guy…
While I was driving to work on Tuesday, I spotted this scene while I was stopped at a red light: Pay attention to the person driving the black Honda HR-V. As a fellow HR-V driver, while I admire their taste in cars, I take great issue with their driving choices. This person is apparently stuck in the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Mill Run Drive…

A much happier and healthier Biscuit…
At long last, my bus, former CARTA 3426, is out of the shop, as she still needed a good bit of mechanical work. She got out of the shop on January 15, and is running quite well, with no warning lights or any other indications. No longer do we fire her up and pray that she makes it. Now we have some level of confidence that she is going to make it, as I believe that we've tackled all of the maintenance issues that CARTA didn't.
