The gun laws failed here because the criminal system failed. Tighten up the criminal system. Oh, but that would mean we need more prisons and we cant have that!

When the shooter threatened to blowup his moms house, he should have been red flagged or prosecuted and shouldnt have been sold a gun. The soft on crime part came in then.
What are you going to do about the miliions of guns already in the US? Making it harder for non criminals to defend themselves against that onslaught of potentially illegal guns isnt going to help.
