There are fewer than 30 National Historic Landmarks in Colorado. Red Rocks is among them. So is Bent's Old Fort. And now this small, scrappy synagogue in Southern Colorado is on the list.

Temple Aaron has been place of worship for Jewish people in Southern Colorado and northern New Mexico for 135 years.

Olivia Bachicha, who tells me she is Catholic, is a former teacher and has lived in Trinidad all her life. She used to bring her students to Temple Aaron when they studied Judaism. She’s come for the National Historic Landmark ceremony.
At Temple Aaron in Trinidad, CO, Shabbat morning services are underway. It’s a special day here. In a short while, they’ll celebrate the synagogue’s new National Historic Landmark status. Rabbi Harry Rosenfeld has come from Albuquerque to lead services.

There’s virtually no sign today of Manhattan Beach, the amusement park at Sloan’s Lake. It’s a story of steamships, fire, an elephant, and segregation.

Paul Alexander, Polio Survivor Who Lived in Iron Lung for 72 Years, Dies age 78

Paul Alexander, who died at 78, was paralyzed with polio at age 6 and relied on the machine to breathe. Still, he was able to earn a law degree, write a book and, late in life, build a following on TikTok.
