The Ultra Project
Every town needs one. Can't be too careful. #UltraQ
This week is the 60th Anniversary of the release of one of my favorite films of all time, #goldfinger Still the best Bond film ever with the best Bond villain and Bond henchman and Bond lines, and pretty much all the cool stuff.
Going through the posts that I already have up on the Ultra Project … "Science Patrol, Move Out" is a standard ULTRAMAN episode from the early days when the budget was too tight. It introduces a famous monster, Neronga, who also appeared in SHIN ULTRAMAN https://the-ultra-project.com/2024/09/06/ultraman-ep-3-science-patrol-move-out/
Ultraman Ep. 3: Science Patrol, Move Out

The standard Ultraman episode. The basics are all here without much variation or swapping of ingredients.

I watched 1981's EYE OF THE NEEDLE on Prime last night (it leaves at the end of the month), one of those films I've meant to get to for years because I love the #KenFollet novel. Worth it: great "Hitchcock's British Period" thriller feel to it, and Donald Sutherland nails a tricky part.

Wednesday is New Post Day at the Ultra Project. Today, I'm looking at Ep. 5 of ULTRA Q, an icy science-fiction story in the Antarctic with just a touch of THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD and the Quatermass films … plus a giant mutated walrus-penguin named Peguila!

Ultra Q Ep. 5: Peguila Is Here!

A change of scenery, from urban Tokyo to the hostile depths of Antarctica to introduce the monster Peguila.

The Ultra Project
The 2nd #ULTRAMAN episode, "Shoot the Invader," has the first alien invasion in the whole Ultra Series—lobster-looking laughing bastards Alien Baltan. Also, Ide wants to tell the audience about his black eye. https://the-ultra-project.com/2024/09/02/ultraman-ep-2-shoot-invader/
Ultraman Ep. 2: Shoot the Invader

The first alien invasion of the Ultra series arrives. Welcome Alien Baltan!

The Ultra Project
I'm settling on a twice weekly posting schedule for The Ultra Project, with reviews going up on Wed. and Sat. I still have many posts already on the website when I went live, so I'll keep filling people in on what I've got up for you to read … such as this review of the first episode of #ultraman https://the-ultra-project.com/2024/08/29/ultraman-ep-1-ultra-operation-no-1/
Ultraman Ep. 1: Ultra Operation No. 1

This premiere episode isn’t the strongest of the series, but it checks off all the points it needs to and leaves viewers ready for more.

The Ultra Project
CAPTAIN CLEGG isn't a horror film, but it contains one of Hammer Studios most famous of its "#Hammer Horror" images: the glowing Marsh Phantoms. This simple effect still jumps right off the screen.
#Ultraseven is my favorite of the #Ultraman shows, the smartest SF writing in the long history of the franchise, so it's going to be a big part of my review project. Here's my intro: what you need to know for ULTRASEVEN

Ultraseven: An Introduction

Ultraseven is the third of the “original” trilogy of Ultra shows, following Ultra Q and Ultraman.
