Tesla’s annual profit plunged to its lowest level since the pandemic five years ago as it lost the title of the world’s biggest electric vehicle maker to a Chinese rival and boycotts hammered sales. Fourth-quarter profit also dropped sharply although it topped Wall Street's expectations on an adjusted basis. CEO Elon Musk spent the majority of the company's earnings call talking about what he considers a bright new artificial intelligence future centered on robotaxis and humanoid robots. Achieving that future won't come cheaply. Musk and the company's finance chief said capital spending will more than double this year.
