@SmudgeTheInsultCat Great film!! And the lambs were mentioned in the novel upon which the film is based.
@overeducatedredneck Haha!! We use that at work too - “don’t merge the code on a Friday afternoon, we don’t want to be crowdstrucken“ !!
@gerrymcgovern We had a sci-fi short story about this already, but with nuclear weapons, not AI. https://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/270390/short-story-about-intelligent-alien-life-mocking-humans
Short story about intelligent alien life mocking humans

There is a short story I read a while back, in which intelligent alien life form discuss whether to include human beings into some kind of advanced society if life forms. But humans are mocked for

@[email protected] @Robodad I get this, you wanted to find human authors that connected to you, and I don’t see an AI working well here either. Are people always this focused on human connections, to the creators of their food or clothing or entertainment? Consumers will have choices to eat AI-designed food and medicine and stories and so on. If it does suck, it won’t sell. But if it’s better… people will switch happily. People can own horses but we buy cars. We’ll have to see.
@sky @Robodad what if it’s tailor made to challenge you, with a deep knowledge of all art that you’ve found challenging before ? Think of an AI music selector that will consider how you reacted to each selection … but now can create the art in the fly too. Or in creating your food.
@[email protected] @Robodad we’ll have to see of course, but I’m hopeful the media we pay to have generated will include every nuance we want. If you pay to be surprised, it better be cleverly surprising. I think generated music will be first, and you’d tell the AI to cheer you up or help you revel in your grief, calm you down or stoke your outrage, give you whatever you feel you want at the time.
@Gargron I suggest you browse “21 lessons for the 21st century” for well-researched analysis of how AI will be beneficial to ordinary consumers, in medical services, food, entertainment, government. The book came out six years ago so it’s not influenced by the current AI craze. The current AIs are crude toys, like the first of any human discovery. AI’s could generate movies for your preferred level of violence, romance and plots. I will pay for an AI to generate good Star Wars movies for me.
@GrimmReality Do it! Every few months I collect the IPs that triggered autoban and every subnet that has three or more gets banned entirely. Started doing this several years ago and currently have a little over eight hundred subnets banned. I haven’t noticed I have ever missed anything.
Happy New Year to all my Mastodon peers!! I hope we grow again this year and keep paving the way to a better post-twitter world.
@SmudgeTheInsultCat this is the main thread behind the Lucifer TV show
