"We are at a critical moment in the campaign to shut down the HERC trash burner."

"We believe there is a real opportunity in these next 3 months to get Hennepin County to agree to a closure date and phase-out plan. But it will take intense pressure."

"Please join our petition launch event on Sunday February 5 at Zion Baptist Church from 2pm-4pm. Impacted community members will lead this meeting, we will discuss their demands, and we will make a plan."

Shut Down HERC Petition Launch RSVP

Help protect the air we breathe. Tell the Hennepin County commissioners to shut down the Minneapolis trash burner! When Hennepin County built the facility over 30 years ago, North Minneapolis community members were the first to sound the alarm. They said then, and continue to say to this day, that HERC is a danger to the community. Join us on February 5th from 2-4 pm at Zion Church in North Minneapolis for a petition launch event! At this event, we will talk a bit about the petition, hear from impacted community members, and share resources to help circulate the petition broadly. We will also talk about ways allies can step up in this next critical phase of the campaign to shut down HERC (as well as potential opportunities to push for zero waste and environmental justice legislation). Thanks for all you’ve done so far, and we hope you’re ready for more :) ******COVID PRECAUTIONS ****** Masks encouraged, and some will be available upon arrival***** Date: Sunday, Feb. 5th, 2023 Time: 2:00- 4:00 pm CT Location: 621 Elwood Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55411 Hosted by MN Environmental Justice Table
