More than 200 species of ants in the Americas farm fungi for food. A trait that evolved just once sometime between 45 million and 65 million years ago. Biologists regard the cultivation of fungi by ants as true agriculture long predating human agriculture because it meets four criteria: the ants plant the fungus, care for them etc.

Glad to hear you love it. Left school for university in 1971 and regret have lost my connection with the area now my parents have gone. Still love living between sea and mountains at Harlech.
