They did block the funding cuts in the longest shutdown the country has seen (so far). I was disappointed in the cuts but Dems were running out of options, Republicans were talking about getting rid of the filibuster, which they will do if Dems block them for too long. Ending the shutdown allowed for the vote on the Epstein files. It also hung the consequences of the cuts on the current administration while also making a statement that the Dems were against it. If they had held out, it’s likely they would lose even more power. Let’s face it, in the current political climate the Dems have a very shitty hand. Direct the hate where it belongs: Republicans.
I am pretty amazed at the hate and negativity towards Dems. They condemned the murder that happened and nothing but hate in this thread. Dems do not have a majority in any branch of government, what exactly can they do? They look weak because they actually do not have any power. Instead of directing the hate towards people calling victims domestic terrorists the hate is directed towards the only allies we have government.
What about my next in line?
I have not been back since as well. I was so optimistic at the time that the community would force reddit to back down with the whole black out. Was so sad to see many people just went back to business as usual.
Only a few years? What’s the math on that? I looked into it and the minimum was 20k. When I looked at it I think it would take around 40 years to break even on premiums. It’s not about the replacement cost of the vehicle but about damages that you could be liable for. If you’re liable for a hospital bill, that minimum won’t go far.
It probably varies based on states but in CA you can put a deposit in with the DMV in lieu of getting insurance. The deposit would be used for any damages you are liable for. I don’t remember the amount but it made insurance seem like a better deal to me personally since the coverages went way beyond the deposit amount.
Check the laws in your state. I doubt it says anything like “stay in the middle lane if you’re going to be in the highway for a while” or “middle is for general travel”, which means you’re probably the driver camping in the middle lane when you should be moving over.
I’ve been in the same situation, drives me nuts.
This is why it’s best to avoid asking questions and rather send messages that inform, when possible. Say things like “I’m going to do this unless I hear otherwise” instead of making it a question. I try to put the burden on them to change an action or simply give them the option to not reply at all.
Of course, sometimes it just isn’t possible.
What a crap take. Nearly
30% of adults in Illinois own a gun. So it’s not about availability of guns, maybe normal people don’t want to just go shooting officers and get themselves killed.

You sound bitter. Probably from wasting all that time at the gas pump.
