Hey y’all, I’m the audible voice of reason, here for whatever you need. Feel free to follow or tag me for a thoughtful take!

Barack Hussein Obama won as Barack Hussein Obama

Meanwhile…

Nimarata Nikki Randhawa had to run as Nikki Haley

Piyush Jindal had to run as Bobby Jindal

Rafael Edward Cruz had to run as Ted Cruz

Even Ronna Romney had to run as Ronna McDaniel

And don’t get me started on the 11-teen different names of George Santos

Point is, GOP claims that “Dems are obsessed with identity politics” is 100% projection.

Let's talk about two wings of the same bird....

@BernieWonIowa @nerdybutcute It’s his duty to protect and uphold the constitution obv, but whether unilaterally demanding debt to be raised is covered by it is not under that heading, which is why it would head to the court. It’s not about trying to have a crystal ball, it’s that we can’t definitively say acting on the debt issue is certainly under his authority. Additionally, a requirement to not question our debt is different to allowing him to take on more debt.
@BernieWonIowa @nerdybutcute We all know it’s clear, but an order by Biden will send it to a court with no concern for actual law, much less human beings that aren’t paying them off. And in the meantime while it sits in court, the risk alone will trigger a recession similar in size to the dot-com crash. And if the court makes the choice their sponsors want them to, it will trigger a global recession on par with 2008 or worse and will hurt our ability to recover
@nerdybutcute Is it just me, or does he sort of seem like Jimmy Carter, but without being completely screwed by the establishment (other than Manchin). Even if he’s old fashioned and a total lib, he seems to take input well from experts and care for the needs of people. His fault is excessive pragmatism but we can’t know how much opposition he gets on given ideas from other politicians. His foreign policy is much better for the average American than under anyone as far as I recall
@nerdybutcute Remember as well, it is possible to dig into Biden with the reason of leftism view without painting him as evil or indefensible or reducing the debate to one of personal attacks. General election civility is gone, but the more civil it can be within a party, the better for all involved, especially on a long enough timeline
@DetectiveP @nerdybutcute I dont think you quite realize what failing at a sufficient level to quickly implement leftist ideals would require. For all the faults in America, democracy is deeply entrenched, so dismantling it would require total collapse. It would be less like the French Rev and more like the Yugoslav collapse, especially with how many guns around. And remember, for every leftist fighting strong, theres a fascist willing to kill hundreds of innocents
@BernieWonIowa @nerdybutcute Not to be obnoxious, but whether default would be a violation of the 14th is a matter of Consitutional interpretation and is therefore up to the Extreme Court. And with their record I wouldn’t count on any help for the hungry. Additionally both the TANF and SNAP changes both expand and shrink the programs and the restrictions have sunsets, allowing real progress to be made with further electoral success. Sometimes Biden manages a win :)
@kupaye @nerdybutcute Understandable, but there is currently no real option in US politics which won’t continue the embargo for the foreseeable future. There are a variety of very real contenders that are very fasc. Though they claim to be isolationist, they are out for themselves and for business interests. As we know, the American business interests usually end up not being isolationist for long with respect to US interference in Latin America
@tillianisafox @nerdybutcute @Greenseer I absolutely understand the mistrust. One vital thing to remember, tho, is that left, right and center are relative and serve as categories, not ideologies in themselves. It’s easy to criticize centrists for obvious reasons but remember that there are apolitical centrists, ‘both sides’ centrists (the WORST imo), and not-so-rare moderates, who are in the middle out of good-willed but naïve care and can be trusted. :)
