Chapter 6 - "Suspicious Minds"
Captain Carl Schafer and Commander Ellen Voight are assigned the task of meeting with the Teel Corporation defector and learn that this Namor Skenn has a well-deserved notoriety among intelligence circles. Schafer laments the idea of granting such an amoral individual citizenship, but appreciates the strategic necessity of such deals.
Chapter 5 - "Silent Running"
Skenn meets Adcock in the Silent Running bar to get an update on the message he requested to be sent to the Republic. But Adcock is curious as to Skenn's motivation for his sudden desire to defect.
Chapter 4 - "Sapacq Shootout"
Sapacqs (pronounced 'say-packs') are Sapient Acquisition Specialists, bounty hunters in contemporary parlance. Unfortunately, Skenn finds himself identified by one, so he has to track him and his colleagues down and kill them before they bring in more.
Chapter 3 - "Message In A Bottle"
Skenn lands on the planet Tagen to request assistance from an old ally. His presence isn't exactly welcomed, but his ally owes him for helping him out years ago. But the favour he is about to ask is one that will result in him having to relocate again.
Chapter 2 - "Migration Control"
Landing on the planet Tagen, Namor Skenn has to navigate the Migration Control process. Every planet has its own version, designed to monitor and even restrict the flow of population around the empire. More frequently, however, it is used to identify undesirable elements, such as population from enemy states or, as in Skenn's case, fugitives from the law.

Namor Skenn awakens on a gurney in an illicit back street hospital on a remote planet in Teel Corporation space. Before the surgery, he was feared and hated by everyone he ever had dealings with. He had no shortage of enemies who wished him ill. Now, they get their wish granted as he becomes the hunted.

Chapter 15 - "The Fate Of Earth"
As Carter locates the observation deck and marvels at the stark beauty of the endless deep, he starts to accept his new place in this peculiar future. Then he is hit with one final bombshell, and the subject they have all been avoiding since he first awakened: the fate of his homeworld, Earth.

He cannot change the past, so he is left with what to do with his future, and so he decides to embrace it. It won't be easy, and he is still burdened by the knowledge of what he has lost. But there is opportunity.

Denom meets Carter for another lunch where Denom fills in the man out of time with everything they do know about how he came to be where he was. Carter is left unsatisfied, and with a strong disdain for the corporation that had abducted him.
